Academic Programming

Marinette Intermediate School is committed to offering high quality, individualized Instruction for Grades 2-4.

Math
Through our curriculum Illustrative Math we are able to provide engaging and rigorous instruction developing critical thinkers and problem solvers. As we build a strong foundation of numeracy skills, students also engage in meaningful mathematics conversations to deepen conceptual understanding, strengthen procedural fluency, enhance their reasoning skills, and justify their strategies. We build the foundation so that all students can achieve a high level of mathematics proficiency.

Reading and Writing
Our school is excited to use the CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) program, a comprehensive literacy curriculum that helps students build strong reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. CKLA combines systematic phonics instruction with rich knowledge-building units in science, history, and the arts, giving students the tools they need to become confident readers while also expanding their background knowledge and vocabulary. By blending foundational skills with meaningful content, CKLA supports all learners in developing a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Science
Our science curriculum is designed to develop young students’ curiosity and inspire them to be tomorrow’s explorers where the foundations of great scientific inquiry begin. Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), our science curriculum drives student engagement and spurs inquisitive minds to consider, question, collaborate, and create while interweaving literacy to strengthen communication and scientific understanding.

Social Studies
The intermediate social studies curriculum focuses on the students' place in the world, Wisconsin & U.S. Studies to the French and Indian War through Wisconsin Statehood.

Supporting each child with a well-rounded educational program
All students have a 45-minute daily rotation for art, music, physical education and library. Additionally, all students get individualized support to advance their learning throughout the school day. Teachers add physical movement, positive behavior recognition, and social-emotional skills to each day to help children learn and grow!

Activities throughout the year encourage families to partner with the schools to help all students experience success. Parent-teacher organizations help families get involved and contribute to the school’s success.

Special Services
Special services are available to all identified children and are an integral part of the academic and social emotional learning.
